Thermogravimetric analysis (TG, TGA) is to observe the change of the mass of the sample with temperature or time during the process of heating up, constant temperature or cooling down, with the purpose of studying the thermal stability and composition of materials. It is widely used in research and development, process optimization and quality control in various fields such as plastics, rubber, coatings, pharmaceuticals, catalysts, inorganic materials, metallic materials and composites. The following properties of materials are measured and studied: thermal stability, decomposition processes, adsorption and desorption, oxidation and reduction, quantitative analysis of components, effects of additives and fillers, water and volatiles, reaction kinetics.
